Bearded Baptism
Hello friends
And family!!!
How are you all doing?!
Hopefully good.
I am doing well. I have had a long week, but in a good way. A lot of cool things have happened. New people have sprung up to be taught, and we had a Baptism this last Saturday. I don't know if you all remember the bearded hobo grandpa I never had? I had the opportunity to baptize him. It makes it even more special because he has a beard and is named Kyle. Like my dad. Just, he has a few years on him. It was awesome to feel the difference in his home the following day of his confirmation. It's different for sure. He has already had some cool miracles occur in his life too. He is awesome!
I had one day this week when we had the district leader, the zone leaders, the assistants to the president, and the President himself all call in one day. All for different things. It was stressful. My companion and I were a little worried there for a while, but everything was alright. It was just a strange coincidence I suppose.....
The days have been flying by. We are out and about so much that I sometimes get into this trance of door knocking and talking that it oftentimes flows quickly. It is an amazing experience to be a Missionary. What a blessing indeed. I have been hearing from other missionaries that "2 years is a long time" and that "you still have a long way to go". Honestly....I disagree. 2 years is a drop in the bucket in comparison to the rest of life. That is by no means a bad thing. My perspective anymore always seems to be pointed towards the future. We set goals and make plans as missionaries to accomplish the work and invite other to come unto Christ. This means that our vision is always towards the future and helping people repent to meet the qualifications for Baptism, and taking their first steps to eternal life. When one looks with such a perspective, all other things seem to be much easier. Or at least more easily overcome. What a blessing it is to have such a divine perspective!
I have been very tired lately because we have been knocking many many doors. Walking from 10 to 9 makes one very tired. It is glorious though. We meet people of all different facets of life and opinions. Many different religions too. It only strengthens my testimony though. It is humbling to have the truth that we do have, and that it is freely given to us. The knowledge we have is a precious gift that should be shared frequently.
This week we will have Zone Conference. President asked me to prepare a Book of Mormon scripture that impacted my life. I have decided to share it here as well.
Ether 12
27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.
This scripture has impacted my life because it teaches a very simple but true principle. We have weaknesses. We all do. Through Humility and Faith in Christ, we are made strong. Strength is a positive thing that we all need. Sometimes when we are getting strengthened we have "growing pains". It's like being sore from working out....but then you only improve. Then you can handle more.
Oftentimes, especially in the modern day, humility is viewed as weakness. Far from it. Being Humble is one of the key attributes we need to acquire while here in this life. Through being humble, we can learn. It's admitting that we don't have all the answers, that we have those weaknesses, that we are not perfect. It's obtaining a heart that is willing to grow, a mind that is willing to learn, eyes to see, ears to hear, etc. It's Becoming Strong. So, this is my invitation. Be Strengthened. Be willing to listen to the Lord. He has so many wonderful blessings to place upon us, but only if we are open and ready to accept them. Be Happy. Be willing to grow. Be willing to challenge yourself and be Strengthened through Christ. Be willing to Change. This is something I myself am not perfect at--nobody is. However, even that weakness can be strengthened.
Thank you all so much for your love and support (and food)
This Gospel is true, and Brings eternal Happiness. The Book of Mormon is true. God IS our loving Heavenly Father. Jesus Chris IS our Savior. This is my Testimony.
Love,
-Elder Moore
