Hello Friends and Family
It rained yesterday. We don't get rain too often, so it was good to have. I enjoyed it. Nobody took pity on us and let us in, but maybe they just didn't hear the doorbell or the knocking because of the rain...
We had a few interesting things happen this week. We talked to this lady about the Bible on her doorstep, and then we taught her about the Book of Mormon. When we gave her a copy she said "Wow! My first Book of Mormon!". It was a neat experience to have because a few weeks prior she wasn't happy to see us on her doorstep, but we stopped by again and the Lord had softened her heart.
We took one of the people we are teaching on a chapel tour. We showed them around the main chapel and then the baptismal font. We taught her and her daughter about Baptism and we managed to resolve some concerns about when she is actually going to he baptized.
I decided to talk about some actual details of what I've actually been doing this week, because I actually realized that I haven't actually talked about the work that we are actually doing.
So, anyways there are quite a few part-member families that we have been stopping by and meeting, and that has been fun. We even found a self proclaimed "Jack-mormon/Jack member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints". He was a lot of fun to talk to, plus he smelled like alcohol. He offered to feed us one of these days using his giant smoker. So, maybe I'll have a story to tell on a later week.
We were walking across a crosswalk the other day (the kind where you push a button and then lights start flashing that signal to everyone for them to stop their car so you can walk) and there was one lady who was zooming up on us and we thought she was getting pretty close, but then she slowed down really fast and then made her turn after we walked across. She pulled up next to us and told us that Angel's were definitely watching out for us because she didn't see us but then she heard a car honk at her so she would see us. We heard the car honk but whoever did it had no reason to honk, so it was seemingly random. Interesting eh?
Since we are in Henderson, there are a few places around here that let us get free stuff, since we are missionaries. Great Harvest Bread Co. Has missionary meals where people can pay for a missionaries meal and then we walk in and use the meals to get a free sandwich. Which is nice. Plus there is a place called Fiz that sells flavored soda combo drinks that let us get free drinks. There was a subway in my last area that was owned by a member, and he let us get chips and drinks for free, and even sometimes sandwiches. I'm saying all this not to brag, but more for my mother who might be worried since I just mentioned that I almost got hit by a car. Just so she knows I am getting taken care of...
Anywho, life is good, I'm busy and it is still raining. This transfer has flown by. I am already over halfway done with it. And this is a longer one because of Christmas.
The Church is True. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is even more true. The Book of Mormon is also true, and is the word of God. This is something that I have learned for myself and have been able to see bless my own life, and the lives of others.
